Diggstown

Diggstown

"You can't con a con man"...or can you? Gabriel Caine (James Woods) thinks so. Out of prison, Caine sets his scamming sights on a rural Georgia town called Diggstown, where illegal--and brutal--for-cash boxing flourishes under the nose of the law. Diggstown's resident baddie, John Gillon (Bruce Dern), owns the town--literally--as he won it years earlier in a fixed-fight con. Caine sets up his con with the able help of front man Fitz (Oliver Platt) and a former partner, boxer "Honey" Roy Palmer (Louis Gossett, Jr.). Forty-eight-year-old Palmer's formidable task: to take on, and defeat ten opponents in one day (slowly) while Fitz lays down side bets. The double-crosses soon start crisscrossing and the battle of wits becomes a truly formidable contest between Caine and the totally unruthless Gillon.
