Josie and Katy’s roommate Jorge has his eye on Broadway, but after a series of rejections, he hopes to take his drag performance career as Ginger to the next level. The mysterious Pepper Smith plans to open her own version of Andy Warhol’s Factory. She has the connections, but no one seems to know where she got her money — or if she really has any at all. Katy has the support of her longtime boyfriend, KO Kelly, who has his own dream of becoming a professional boxer. As these aspiring artists take on the runway, the recording studio, Broadway, and the NYC social scene, they will find more than just a career in the big city — they’ll find long-lasting friendship.

Katy Keene (Lucy Hale) struggles to manage the pressures of her day job at Lacy’s Department Store and her demanding boss, Gloria (Katherine LaNasa), who is a legendary personal shopper. Lucky for Katy, she has the support of her longtime boyfriend, KO Kelly (Zane Holtz), who has his own dream of becoming a professional boxer and a surprise Katy wasn’t expecting. Katy’s roommate and close friend, Jorge auditions for Broadway, but when it doesn’t go as planned, he tries a different route. When Katy meets her new roommate Josie (Ashleigh Murray), she knows they will be fast friends. Josie meets record producer Alexander Cabot (Lucien Laviscount), but it seems too good to be true when Alexandra Cabot (Camille Hyde) gets involved. After a long day, the group of friends, including “It” girl Pepper (Julia Chan), meet at their favorite hangout, Molly’s Crisis, to watch Jorge (Jonny Beauchamp) perform as his alter ego, Ginger, and to see Katy’s latest fashion creation.

With Katy’s (Lucy Hale) personal life in a holding pattern, which everyone seems to know about thanks to the newspapers picking up Pepper’s (Julia Chan) blog, she can’t seem to escape even at work. Josie (Ashleigh Murray) finds a job to help pay the bills but picks up an extra job at a record store, and quickly learns it might be closing, leaving Josie with an idea to help keep it open. Because of Jorge’s (Jonny Beauchamp) outburst at his last audition he finds himself on the outs with the Broadway community. After begging for one last audition and waiting to hear if he got the part, he must decide if he wants to give up performing as Ginger. Meanwhile, Pepper (Julia Chan) finds herself low on cash, but is somehow able to secure a warehouse in which she dreams to open up “The Pepper Plant.” Katherine LaNasa, Zane Holtz, Lucien Laviscount and Camille Hyde also star.

KO tries to do something nice for the roommates, but only seems to make things worse. Josie (Ashleigh Murray) and Alexander (Lucien Laviscount) have been growing closer, but after she meets another aspiring songwriter, Josie realizes it’s time to change up their dynamic. Jorge (Jonny Beauchamp) has been in a secret romantic relationship, but after he doesn’t show for his performance at Molly’s Crisis, Jorge realizes what he needs to do. Meanwhile, Pepper (Julia Chan) turns to an old friend, Ms. Freesia (guest star Bernadette Peters), to help her get some quick cash but isn’t proud of how she is doing it. Camille Hyde also stars.
