Land of the Pharaohs

Land of the Pharaohs

Three thousand years ago, when Egypt dominated the known world, the absolute ruler of the most powerful nation on earth decided to build a tomb for himself, a monumental pyramid that would forever tower over The Land of the Pharaohs. For decades his subjects labor to build the man-made mountain, yet construction progresses too slowly. When Pharaoh Khufu (Jack Hawkins) demands help from vassal nations, the island of Cypress can send only their beautiful, ambitious princess, Nellifer (Joan Collins--"Dynasty"). The Pharoah takes Nellifer as his second wife, and the vicious princess arranges the assassinations of both the Pharoah's first wife ... and Pharoah Khufu himself. But Nellifer does not learn of the Egyptian custom of entombing a Pharoah's wives with the dead Pharoah--until the entrance to the pyramid tomb closes behind her.
